Tom knows the ins and outs of pro sports injury claims and will fight for you. Since founding Betts Law Group in 2021, Tom has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of his professional athlete clients.

Prior to founding Betts Law Group, Tom was a partner at a large national law firm where he represented professional sports teams and insurance carriers in the defense of claims brought by professional athletes. In his decade spent working as a defense attorney, Tom learned the strategies and goals of the professional sports teams and insurance carriers in litigating, evaluating, and negotiating these claims. Tom established Betts Law Group to focus solely on obtaining compensation for professional athletes who have suffered one-time and ongoing injuries. Tom’s knowledge of insurance defense provides a distinct advantage in litigating sports injury claims because he knows how professional sports teams and their insurance carriers value the claim and knows exactly what buttons to push to maximize the value of the claim for his professional athlete clients.

Tom was born and raised in New Jersey and graduated from Rutgers University. He moved to San Diego to attend law school. He continues to reside in San Diego with his wife, two rowdy boys, and English bulldog. Tom enjoys traveling, running, paddleboarding, and is an avid sports fan.

Whitney Betts

Whitney Betts has extensive experience representing survivors of Sexual Assault and will stand up to your perpetrator and all those who enabled and protected them to get you justice. Whitney has spent her entire career developing an outstanding reputation for effective, ethical, and compelling advocacy for her clients. She believes in the power of elevating the voices of those who have suffered misfortune at the hands of others from victims into survivors by fighting to get them justice.

Prior to co-founding Betts Law Group, Whitney spent a decade in the defense field, learning the inside tricks and integral methods that defense adjusters, insurance agencies, and their corporate attorneys use and rely on when presented with the claims of victims. Whitney was a partner at one of the largest law firms in the country, working as outside counsel for large medical and private entities on matters of sexual assault, harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, personal injury, wrongful death and medical malpractice in San Diego and all of Southern California. Whitney utilizes this inner knowledge to present your case efficiently, effectively, and to maximize your recovery while elevating your voice.

Whitney is a firm believer that sexual assault, discrimination, harassment, and catastrophic personal injury are traumatic events that should never happen to anyone. She understands that you may feel powerless, vulnerable, and even afraid. Betts Law Group is about treating our clients like family in creating a safe space to share your story, and to help you reclaim your joy if it has been lost as a result of being victimized by the hands of another.

She is active in her community and is a certified yoga instructor.
